MASON CITY --- The Mason City Newman girls started their tournament run with a 70-35 win over Rockwell-Swaledale in a Class 1A Region 4 district semifinal last night, as you heard on AM-1300 KGLO. Megan Dornbier and Jennifer Bohl each had 12 while Olivia Olson and Holly Hinderman each had 11 in the victory for the Knights. Newman improves to 12-9 for the season and will now face Northwood-Kensett in the district final on Tuesday at the Newman gym. Northwood-Kensett got 19 points from Kate Harman to help the Vikings to a 47-25 win last night in Riceville.

HAMPTON --- Clear Lake split their North Central Conference doubleheader at Hampton-Dumont last night, as you heard right here on AM-1490 KRIB.

=== Macala Mennen had 20 points to lead Hampton-Dumont to a 73-69 win over the Lions in the girls game. Allison Schaefer had 19 points for Clear Lake, who slips to 4-15 overall and ends the conference portion of their schedule at 4-13.

=== Justin Uhlenhopp had 19 points while Jared Sholly chipped in 11 as Clear Lake took the boys game 59-49. Clear Lake improves to 8-9 overall and 8-7 in the conference.

Both teams will host Charles City tomorrow night at 5 o’clock.
