It’s now up to a district court judge to determine whether or not Mark Becker is competent to stand trial on a first-degree murder charge in the death of former Aplington-Parkersburg head football coach and athletic director Ed Thomas after a hearing today in Mason City.

The Mason City City Council held a workshop session at the Park Inn Hotel in downtown Mason City on Wednesday morning, and News Director Bob Fisher took the "Ask the Mayor" program on the road and was joined by Mayor Roger Bang as well as Jean Marinos and Ann McGregor of "Wright on the Park"
