MC Council deadlocked on public comment period
|
|
A staple of Mason City City Council meetings for years for now won’t be coming back any time soon. Mayor Eric Bookmeyer last week issued an order that eliminated the public comment portion of the meeting as well as the city administrator comments and the agenda item listed as “other business” at the end of the agenda. Bookmeyer stated that he’d evaluated strategies to streamline the regular business meetings of the council to improve the product the council produces. Bookmeyer allowed a proposed resolution to be placed as the last item on the council’s agenda last night, but it failed on a three-three tie vote.
